(a) — Why stay here

A field station, not a resort.

Gir Birding Lodge set among mango trees at Sasan Gir

Reason 01 — The location

22 acres of Kesar mango orchard, wall to wall with a 1,412 sq km park.

Gir holds 450+ wild Asiatic lions and 200+ leopards — the only surviving wild population on earth. Breakfast under the trees, then out of the gate exactly where the forest begins. Your birding starts on the property, before the jeep arrives.

Reason 02 — The naturalists

Gujarat's first birding lodge.

In-house naturalists take you for birding walks, hide photography and herpetology outings, and log against a 250+ species list. There is a natural-history library for guests, and equipment can be arranged if you tell us in advance.

The natural history library at Gir Birding Lodge

Reason 03 — The quiet

No televisions. Deliberate.

A nature-first, digital-detox stay: airy verandas, a pool in the orchard, and a dawn chorus instead of notifications.

(b) — Stays & tariff

14 rooms. 6 orchard cottages. All air-conditioned.

Accommodation-only rates in Indian rupees, plus 5% GST, valid till 31 March 2027. Meals are charged separately and 24-hour hot water, purified drinking water, kettles, toiletries and daily housekeeping are included.

A truly unforgettable stay amidst nature. Surrounded by beautiful mango orchards and rich birdlife, the peaceful atmosphere is ideal for nature lovers and photographers. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the food is delicious, and the staff is exceptionally warm and helpful.
Mr. Maahi · 5★ on Google
The stay is located in the centre of a mango farm. The rooms were great… breakfast was excellent and the service was great. Overall, it is a good place to stay near Sasan Gir.
Vishal Suresh · 4★ on Google
Comfortable room, very pleasant conscious staff. Delicious and healthy food and the premises overall is very well designed. Expert guide and drivers — we saw 2 big male lions, a pride of 8 lionesses and cubs, a leopard, jackal, sambhar and boar. One of my favourite jungle trips in my past 8 years as a wildlife follower.
Prakash Prabhu · Guest review
Thanks for this pleasant stay by the mango trees. We enjoyed every minute and the sightings of lion and leopard were dream-like. The walk by the river with all these birds was quite exotic for us. The staff have been pleasant and helpful.

The picturesque Sasan railway station, Maldhari and Siddi traditions, Junagadh's monuments and Saurashtra food — the forest is only half the trip.
